“Altán Res’ vision to democratize access to mobile connectivity is recogniz, but this time we will use the AT&T network to enter the market,” he said in an interview.
Only 130 mobile operators are on the Altán network, while others decid to abandon it after experiencing failures.
Given this situation, Villanueva said that Altán Res nes to modify its scheme on the use of radio spectrum bands, in order to strengthen the business model of MVNOs.
If the changes can be made, that would only be a first step towards making the Shar Network more profitable for MVNOs, which currently have 8% of the market.
“We believe that the best thing would be for Altán Res to review how many more bands it could bid on, participate in and acquire.
“For now we cannot put the burden on Altán Res. An LTE technology provides a 4.5 network, not 5G,” he add.
